Who are Dementia Friends?
With the number of people living with dementia set to rise to 1,000,000 by 2025, the Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friends programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. Here in Knighton and the Upper Teme Valley, we are using the programme to help to transform the way we all think, talk and act about the condition.
Dementia has touched the lives of so many of us and if we can help in some small way to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding and its associated loneliness and social exclusion then we can make life so much easier for those living with dementia, their carers and families.
